Compassion is not religious business, it is human business, it is not luxury, it is essential for our own peace and mental stability, it is essential for human survival. ~Dalai Lama
Engagement sessions are really fun! And not only because you get pretty photos at the end of it all :) But the whole experience is unique to you. I remember when my husband and I took our engagement photos, it almost didn’t even matter where we were or what poses we were doing.
Happy new year everyone! I’m excited to start off the new year with a fun, Lego and movie-inspired wedding! This lovely couple married at the Westin Pasadena in the Fall. Their wedding truly represented who they are. It was filled with close family and friends, American and Chinese cultures, fun and unique DIY details.
I’m a true sucker for inspirational quotes so I shall start this post with one that resonates with many engaged couples.
“Be silly and laugh every day, be thoughtful and generous, kiss each other good night, learn from each other, fall in love and grow old together.” ~unknown author
Life can be serious so remember to be the energy in the world that makes it a better place.
This simple yet beautiful maternity session took place at the couple’s home and around their neighborhood and is especially special to me. This is my soon-to-be niece! The photoshoot authentically represents their daily life. We first started the session at home, then walked over to the toddler park right across the street, and finally visited the community center near their home.
If you are looking for a either a unique session or one to truly showcase their beautiful family, a lifestyle at-home session is one for you! This reminds me of how I fell in love with photography. It was for the people and to capture their relationships along with all the touchy-feely stuff :) Of course, I often have to “pose” or direct my clients but only in such a way that feels natural to them.
This sweet family session took place at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. The park has so many great little spots and we even went to the American Southwest Railway afterwards. What a fun place to visit with your family if you’re already at Griffith.
Cathleen and Simon are a pair made in heaven! You can tell instantly how much he adores her and how her eyes lightens up when she looks at him. The location was chosen for the significance it plays in their new beginnings. Their lives changed
This is a special engagement session in Orange and Laguna Beach and let me tell you why. The weather was perfect. The locations were gorgeous. But more importantly, I had one of the best couples right in front of my lens. Audrey and Piotr came all the way from Polland to tie the knot in front of Audrey’s closest family and friends.
There is no “best time” of the year to get your family portraits… But if I had to pick one season to recommend, I’d say during the Fall. This time of the year is just absolutely beautiful! The colors are changing yet still vibrant, the weather is cooling off, and you’ll feed two birds with one seed by getting the photos in time for the holiday cards!
Going back to a simple and pretty maternity session at a park! Sometimes, the best things in life are simple, full of life, and unconditional, just like the photos below.
For some, a maternity session is a definite. Mommy-to-be’s know they want this experience to be documented and may already have ideas in mind. For others, this is completely new or
It’s incredible how you still remember the day you first met and how you felt on your wedding day. These memories stay with us because they are defining moments of our lives. Little do we know that each day of every year are even more defining of the people we are and the people we are becoming. Each year, we are a little different from the year before.
I love weddings that have beautiful simple details and centers attention on what matters most- love and relationships. This beautiful wedding reception at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica was just that. Caroline and Ted included details that gave their guests an intimate celebration. The most important part of the day to them was to laugh and make memories with the people they love most.
Cultural wedding traditions and ceremonies are really fun and are beautiful and colorful! Yet sometimes, it just doesn’t get enough spotlight on wedding day. An engagement ceremony is wonderful to celebrate with your closest family and friends. What a valuable experience for couples! Enjoy this fun Korean engagement ceremony throwback :)
Pomona Valley Mining Co offers a great boutique location for special occasions. The restaurant offers wooden and metal decor with genuine mining artifacts of the era, and oversees the mountains. This quaint and unique venue is where Isabelle celebrated her 18th birthday with her family and friends. What a true pleasure it was to work with her and her father.
Simple engagement sessions are also really fun, especially at natural and gorgeous settings like Laguna Beach and Soka University. These sessions are like Sunday brunch date :) It’s easy, sweet, and relaxing. I spent this Sunday afternoon with a newly engaged and sweet couple, Amy and Jon! It was a sunny and warm day in Laguna Beach with many families and people out enjoying the sun.
Nicklaus Club in Monterey, Ca is a romantic, charming, and elegant venue and is perfect for weddings! The old Spanish club offers a variety of different spaces for our lovely couple to plan out exactly what they wanted. Five different areas of the club was used for the following: 1) The spacious and beautifully furnished bridal suite 2) the rustic open landscape with the signature tree for the ceremony
Sometimes, as consumers, we forget that there is a human behind that customers service line, or that waiter at the restaurant, the cashier at the market, and our accountants or real estate agents. Everyone who has provided a service to us on behalf of a company or brand, is a person just like us. They may even be planning for their own wedding, just like you!
This beautiful wedding was at Almansor Court in Alhambra, Ca. The day was filled with fun and laughter from the wedding party! Every wedding is special when you know about the quirks of each couple. Matt and Kat are unique in that they’ve never fought and they share a secret language in “meow”. Matt and Kat met in Little Tokyo at a karaoke bar. When Matt asked Kat to sing, “A Whole New World,” together, little did they know they would start a whole new life together.
This sweet wedding at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles was filled with so much love from family and friends who travelled far to be there. We had a great time spending the day with Ching and Hung. Thank you for having both our cinema and photo team there to capture the day! Congratulations on your beautiful new beginning!
